The Problem
One-size-fits-all list views weren't working for diverse enterprise users
Enterprise users across different roles — recruiters, procurement managers, finance teams — all needed to see different columns and data points when viewing vendor or candidate lists in Workday VNDLY. The fixed list view forced everyone into the same layout regardless of their workflow, leading to frustration, scrolling, and workarounds.
Power users were particularly affected — they needed quick access to specific fields and couldn't customise what was visible without losing the overall structure of the page.

My Approach
Giving users control without adding complexity
Mapped existing user workflows to identify which columns different personas needed most frequently
Designed a column picker panel that lets users show, hide, and reorder columns with drag-and-drop
Ensured preferences persist per user so the configuration carries across sessions
Kept the interaction lightweight — the panel opens inline, no modal or page reload needed
Tested with power users to validate the column ordering and drag targets were intuitive
The Outcome
A flexible, personalised list experience that adapts to each role
The feature gave enterprise users meaningful control over their workspace for the first time, reducing friction for daily power users and improving overall satisfaction with the list view experience.
